PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 
The Online Occurrence Reporting System is required for all New York City public schools and DOE administrative buildings as mandated by the SAVE Legislation and Chancellor's Regulation A-412.  New York City Department of Education OORS and OORS related applications serve all of the community and specifically, students, parents, teachers, school administrators, permit holders and participants in after-school programs, DOE administrative staff and various city agencies. 

The project will convert the OORS application and all other occurrence related interfaces from its current platform of ASP to .NET, along with minor enhancements and repairs of some of the applications capabilities. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Analyze requirements and prepare detailed software requirements (propose application user authentication and authorization needs, detailed screen designs and underlying database design). 
Review and interpret classic ASP applications and inline dynamic SQL statements. 
Design user interface utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, AJAX, and JQuery. 
Design and develop web applications and web services using object-oriented mythology in the Microsoft .NET platform including C#, ASP.NET, and ADO.NET
Design and develop SSIS packages, database objects such as tables, stored procedures, triggers and views in SQL Server as needed. 
Deploy the applications to multiple environments and conduct unit and integration testing. 
Tune applications and database objects for performance optimization. 
Conduct user acceptance review sessions. 
Provide extensive well-written documentation of all new systems and applications. 
Monitor databases and systems for potential problems and documents problems and solutions to ensure more efficient database operations. 
Provide end users with training and continuing support for applications, systems, and databases during deployment. 

The minimum core competencies required are: 
Five or more years of technical experience. 
Experience in transactional and dimensional database design. 
Object-oriented design and programming. 
Two or more years of experience designing and developing web applications using Visual Studio.NET, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, XML, HTML, VB.NET, C#.NET, SQL Server 2005, Internet Security. 
Working experience on Team Foundation Server, .NET framework 3.5. 
Experience using Active Directory, LDAP for Authentication and Authorization. 
System analysis skills. 

Desired skills: 
Experience in converting web applications from class ASP to .NET, or previous versions of .NET framework to .NET 3.5. 
Integrating Cognos reports with web applications using Cognos SDK. 
Good writing and verbal communication skills. 
5 years plus experience.
