Job Title: Systems Engineer
Location: NYC
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months+
Requirements:
· College degree in Information Technology or related field
· Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Market based applications is a plus.
· Experience with all flavors of unix with emphasis on Solaris, NetBSD, FreeBSD, OpenBSD,
· Suse, RedHat Linux, SCO Openserver, and Open Solaris
· Complete understanding of Unix internals, particularly pertaining to Solaris
· Ability to use DTrace to troubleshoot proprietary applications
· Ability to clearly communicate and present to large audiences
· Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others; previous experience mentoring is a plus
· An expectation to continuously learn and implement new tools, applications, and technologies
· Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, IGMP, BGP, HSRP, STP, etc.
· Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Solaris Zones, Xen, VirtualBox, etc.
· 5+ years experience programming in Perl, C, C++, Java, Bash, or Visual Basic
· Experience with application technologies such as Apache, WebSphere, Tomcat, etc.
· Assist with high-urgency issues affecting production systems in a time-critical manner while expediting root cause analysis and communicating
