.NET Developer (Converting from a VB6 to a .NET and C# environment)
Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: 12+ Months
Description:
• Need for several .Net/C# developers that has experience converting
from a VB6 to a .NET and C# environment. They will report to a
technical analyst who will research any information needed from the
business or other groups. There are three levels of system that need
to be developed on a .Net/C# environment:
• Systems that contain good business logic and can be converted in its
entirety
• Systems with some good business logic or are only partially used.
Specific components will be identified for conversion from VB6 to .Net/
C#
• Systems without usable business logic. These will be re-written
from scratch in a .Net/C# environment.
• There is limited documentation on the existing systems. This is why
a knowledge of VB6 is important so that the developer can use the
source system as their business and technical requirements. All the
data bases are assumed to be correct and will be used as. The
developers will "own" the conversion of individual, smaller systems.
They may also be assigned the modules of larger systems.
Required Skills:
• .Net - 4-8 years - Primary development language
• C# - 4-8 years - Primary development language
• VB6 - 4-8 years - must be proficient enough to read and infer the
business requirements
• MS SQL Server 2008 - This is the database underlying the
applications.
• SSRS - SQL Server Reporting Services
• SSIS
