Role: DB2 DBA

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Sacramento, CA

 

Job Description:

Perform DB2 database administration activities including monitoring, schema management, space management, performance tuning, SQL tuning, database backup and recovery, disaster recovery, data replication, and database refresh.

Work with development teams in database design process and make suggestions/recommendations based on data manipulation needs of the application.

Provide database support in all phases of SDLC.

Work with other associates in the team to come up with solutions in line with group's standards

Position requires working on protocols for various production support, database maintenance, housekeeping and installs

Interface and work closely with other groups mainly Design, Architecture, Operations, and System Administration.

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot the problems quickly.

Planning and implementing database upgrades/patching.

Evaluation and recommendation of software products in database management arena.

Mentor junior members of the DBA team.

Provide consulting experience and help building long and short term strategies for the Database Administration.

Perform Project Management function for the infrastructure projects.

 

Qualifications:

B.S. in Information Systems or related fields.

Must have 6+ years of DB2 DBA on Unix/Mainframe/Windows/Linux experience

Database monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.

DB2 Utilities: Load, Reorg, Copy, Recovery

Native DDL authoring

SQL language tuning for DB2 application development.

IBM mainframe: TSO, JCL

Distributed access to DB2 using DB2 Connect

Should have strong time management skills with willingness and ability to handle multiple projects/initiatives at the same time.

Self motivated with strong team and interpersonal skills.

Experience with Oracle is a plus.

Experience in Distributed Application Access to DB2 will be a plus.

 

Hardware/Software Packages:

Microsoft Office – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project • Microsoft Windows Server • AIX • DB2 • Midrange application experience • Java - J2EE • XML • HTML • SQL

C++

 

Education Requirements:

Bachelors degree
