QA Automation/Performance Tester
A Wisconsin utility selling natural gas and electricity, is rewriting the current online billing system, changing from a proprietary vendor package to a new application written in house using open source tools such as Java, jBoss, hibernate, web services, HTML, CSS, etc. Requirements for the project are defined and back-end web services are near completion. Remaining tasks are development of the front end user interface and several levels of testing. We currently anticipate the project will be complete in about 6 months. For the remaining tasks, we are adopting an agile approach to development.
The candidate for this position would have several responsibilities, including writing scripts for test automation and performance testing. The tools to be used are JUnit, Selenium, and JMeter. This person will analyze, design, write, execute and maintain automated test scripts. They will work in collaboration with the developers and manual testers to meet quality objectives of the organization.
Duties:
• Collaborate with the testing team members to design and maintain the test automation framework
• Design and architect modular and reusable automated testing solutions that satisfy testing requirements.
• Execute automated tests and analyze results
• Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
• Report, track and determine priority of reported bugs
• Manage testing environments, both real and virtual
• Create documentation for automation processes
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years work experience in a QA automation environment
• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or the equivalent
• Required experience writing JUnit tests
• Required experience writing complex SQL queries
• Required experience with performance testing
• Experience with Selenium and JMeter would be a plus
• Beneficial to have experience with Soap, Eclipse, JBoss, HTML, CSS, and Javascript
• Strong technical experience including java and web services coding skills
• Familiarity with agile development process preferred
• Detail oriented and excellent problem-solving skills
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Passion for constant improvement and automation of tasks/processes
• Candidate should be a skilled manual tester and willing to do manual testing at times as required by the current project workload
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture concepts preferred
