Location: Baltimore, MD
Duration: 6 months (but, could be extended).
SAS technology skills required:
1) Solid EG skills (very important)
2) Strong knowledge of all SAS EBI Server components ("all" components – i.e., WRS, OLAP Cube Studio, IDP, BI Dashboard, Publishing Framework, AMO, IMAP.)
3) Base SAS programming background
4) Strong Knowledge of SQL and experience working with SAS and large databases (Teradata& Oracle) (SQL support will be mostly a troubleshooting exercise, helping users with problems.)
5) Strong understanding of stored processes. (Why? The Govt has a large integrated data repository and are presently building approaches to surface results from it, having started with IMAP's but not realizing much success there. They recentlyconducted a Requirements Phase across 14 Departments, seeking to understand who uses the repository, where the data goes, the importance of reports, etc. And now they are trying to develop various approaches to access the data (data views / data marts) either through cubes or STP's or IMAP's, and are weighing options on how best to present information to the users. You, as Technical Architect, must lead defining solutions to these sorts of issues.)
6) Experience in migrating SAS users over to a centralized, metadata managed environment with EG / EBI Interfaces
7) Teradata In-database knowledge a very big plus
8) Nice to Have: Healthcare data experience a big plus
9) Nice to Have: Experience with Data Warehousing concepts and disciplines (not DI Studio specifically)
Additional support tasks will (or may) include:
· Scope and define work efforts, conducting project requirements gathering with Govt. users.
· Support or assume being the technical lead on projects.
· Provide overall assessment and guidance with respect to business, data, and technical requirements.
· Provide guidance, best practices and reporting solutions based on user requirements.
- Evaluate and then make recommendations on the following details:
o Data Requirements – staging areas, data mart(s), tables, validation rules, sample data, data loads, data archiving (history)
o Technical Requirements – system infrastructure, architecture, external interfaces, backup and recovery, security schemes, authentication methods, troubleshooting (errors and performance), third party integration.
o Test Requirements – system integration, user acceptance. Define the assumptions, dependencies, constraints, data sources, business rules, options, variables and selections for relevant data in use.
- Perform advanced or complex prototyping for SAS EBI. If required, create reports utilizing any of the EBI technology components and provide guidance as to which technology components are best suited for each desired report.
- Deliver best practices methodologies and industry standards internally and externally.
- Work proactively with Govt. Business Users for the purpose of cross-training and knowledge transfer.
Support may also include:
· On-the-job coaching/mentoring of users on how to leverage new interfaces and capabilities, and work with relational database environment like the Govt Integrated Data Repository (Teradata).
a. Take on the development of specific tasks in Enterprise Guide or EBI & provide knowledge transfer on the process back to Govt users (e.g., Macro development, migrating SAS programs to SAS EBI/EG, generating queries efficiently and effectively).
· Troubleshoot technical problems associated with SAS processes.
· Provide input to, or lead with, the Federal Contractor and the Govt team with regard to user enablement processes.
- Guidance on best practices for utilizing Enterprise Guide and the SAS 9.2 EBI Server interfaces in the Govt.environment.
- Mentoring around new capabilities available via the SAS EBI Server infrastructure, such as stored processes and the application of it to existing SAS programs.
- Guidance around leveraging the in-database capabilities of SAS and Teradata availablevia SAS/ACCESS to Teradata, which is installed and available in the SAS EBI Server environment
