Position: Web Developer with websphere ecommerce (6.0+)

Location: SanJose, CA

Duration: 6+months

 

The Sr. Web Developer must have strong all around web development skills and be proficient with various technologies and methodologies including extensive experience developing eCommerce websites using Websphere eCommerce (6.0+). The position will require partnering with the business community to develop marketing and retail/wholesale concepts into effective system designs and solutions. The Sr. Web Developer (6+ month contract) works closely with IT and business teams to maintain and enhance custom Websphere eCommerce websites along with other custom web portlets and projects. Additionally, this position will partner with IT teams responsible for order management and related systems that are integrated to websites.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Provide leadership, technical mentoring and hands-on coding for WebSphere based eCommerce sites

·         Assess business requirements and produce functional/technical documentation and system designs for site changes and integrations

·         that ensure high volume throughput and support industry best practice

·         techniques for eCommerce

·         Drive tasks all the way through the Software Development Life Cycle from high level concepts thru rapid deployment of change

·         Function as a domain expert and work closely with software developers to ensure adherence to Company's design standards and industry best practice techniques

·         Conduct cost analysis to determine feasibility of planned changes

·         Oversee and develop unit and performance test plans

·         Ensure integrity of code base is maintained. Plan and execute regular builds and deployments

·         Participate in the triage of defects and prioritization of system enhancements

·         Troubleshoot, fix, and test issues/defects resulting from either the change control process or production activities

·         Provide on-going coaching, enabling team members to develop and improve skills and capabilities that enhance the effectiveness of the department

·         Participate in the development of long term strategy for eCommerce sites

 

Qualifications:

 

5+ years Websphere ecommerce (especially 6.0 and higher)

2+years of experience in Ajax/Dojo frameworks

10+ years strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Broad experience using various architectural design patterns such as SOA and N-tier web applications

 

Essential Tools/ technologies:

 

JAVA, XML, DB2/SQL

 

Omniture analytics, SEO analytics, etc.

5+ years J2EE design patterns and web service development

Agile methodology

Strong communication skills. Ability to influence decisions regarding strategy, design, and technology tools.

Able to identify and evaluate strategies to mitigate risk

Experience working in a Retail/Wholesale operation – understanding customer loyalty, order management, promotions management, etc
