SQL Server Dev

Rate: $ 500.00/day

Place: NYC.

Duration: Long Term.

 

We're getting a lot of resumes for SQL server developers who specialize in data warehousing and related technologies (cubes, SSRS etc), probably because we have called the system a Reporting Framework.  However, the system is actually an OLTP operational database so we need people with more trading/transactional system experience.

 

 Main Duties

·         Work closely with technical leads and developers to design and implement SQL Server solutions.

·         Troubleshoot performance and functional problems on development, testing and production environments.

• Drive database design from business and functional requirements. Write technical specifications and support documentation

 

 

    Technical Requirements

·         Expert SQL Server developer with 5+ years experience including relational database design; DDL; TSQL; stored procedures; partitioning and performance tuning.

·         Experienced working with large databases (~800GB). Proven track record of producing high-performance databases via tuning and optimisation.

·         General understanding of the finance markets and financial products.

·         Excellent understanding of the full SDLC lifecycle including both waterfall and iterative methodologies. The candidate must be able to drive database design from business and functional requirements; implement structured, high-performing database code; tune large databases; support all test phases and provide 2^nd-level production support for live applications.

Personal Requirements

·         Ability to work independently and proactively.

·         Ability to build productive working relationships with other technology teams, business users and support teams.

·         Excellent problem solver.

·         Strong communicator.
