JOB DESCRIPTION
*Ensure the reliability and availability of enterprise systems across varied platforms (e.g., server, network, and related infrastructure technologies)
*Perform capacity planning to ensure systems maintenance
*Diagnose and resolve system / application errors
* As a member of the Intel Design-Engineering and Services Group in the IT Operations business unit; you will own all the Technical design activities as it relates to VMware vCenter Server.
* Software Installation, configuration management, maintenance, testing and documentation of VMware related products
* Install VMware solutions using VM-Ware ESX Server.
* Maintain the highest level of availability, reliability and performance for VMware and associated products
* Install upgrades and patches for VMware and related products.
* Define comprehensive automation for VMware, including creating scripts for recurring system tasks
* Work with the architecture teams to translate high level business requirements into technical designs and practical engineering solutions
* 3rd level software and problem diagnosis and support functions.
* Contribute and develop best practices, strategies, methodologies and documentation/templates.
* VMware vCenter Server expert, who is capable of articulating and demonstrating the technology role VMware vCenter Server plays in our VMware virtualized environment.
* Collaboration with the Project Management Teams and Cross Functional Technical Services Teams to drive and enable technologies and solutions.
* Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes.
* Oversees and applies appropriate support packages/patches to maintain system integrity.
* Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
* Installs, maintains, and upgrades OSs and applications for the Microsoft Advanced server environment. * Performs advanced server support functions, such as Level 2 and Level 3 problem resolution, server backups, monitors site traffic, and helps scale site capacity to meet traffic demands.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
* 5 years of proven Microsoft Windows Server administration experience;
*Demonstrated experience with command line functions and editors
* 5 years' experience with VMware Virtual Center and ESX as an architect, consultant or in a professional services organization with experience in architecting and implementing enterprise class VMware virtualization solutions
* Knowledge of storage management and change management tools and concepts
* Microsoft Windows server architect with enterprise experience in Windows Server 2003 32 bit/64 bit, Windows Server 2008. (Active Directory design, MSCS Clustering, Network Load Balancing (NLB), DHCP and DNS)
* Knowledge of security management concepts
*Knowledge of architecture functions
* Demonstrated ability to successfully work across teams
* Knowledge of Project Management Methodology (PMM) or Product Change Management procedures
