Position 1:
Position: UNIX systems admin/engineer with eCommerce Portal Administrator/Engineer exp.
Location: Portland, OR
Duration: 6 months (may extend to 2 years +)
Job Description:
The ideal candidate is a UNIX systems admin/engineer with experience in Internet systems engineering, web application server and portal support.
Core Accountabilities:
- Lead, develop, and evangelize the technology vision and architectural roadmap for the portal environment.
- Define and drive adoption of architecture and software development practices across customers.
- Provide technical leadership in the evaluation, conceptualization, design, and development of major new capabilities, ensuring that technology choices and tradeoffs anticipate future needs while efficiently satisfying short term requirements.
- Be a driving force for constantly improving performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, availability and usability.
- Define and cultivate strategic technology partnerships including determining how to effectively leverage 3rd party solutions today and in the future.
- Partner with enterprise architects in the creation of client's architecture strategy and roadmaps.
- Serve as the SME for web-enablement and Internet delivery of applications; provide guidance and troubleshooting for security (SSO & SSL), integration, and performance
- Provide thought leadership about the management and direction of external user management and support for integrating with the existing external AD.
- Support Gomez performance monitoring of the site.
- Manage and respond to problems and incidents, resolving, collaborating, or escalating as needed.
- Document configuration and troubleshooting steps in a standardized, repeatable way.
- Responsible for keeping stakeholders current as to resolution status, and maintain a high level of overall customer satisfaction.
- Develop tools and process to support continuity management.
- Develop, test, and implement monitoring tools and processes based on defined standards.
- Conform to standards, processes and policies. Help define new standards where needed.
- Software & hardware setup, support and configuration.
- Lead small projects and facilitates meetings as needed.
- Assist with change management.
- Provide input to develop and refine procedures and processes in specific areas at the task level.
Required skills & Capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other relevant subject area
- 5 years professional experience in system administration/engineering and/or similar roles supporting technical development and eCommerce operations
- 2 years additional relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a degree
- Experience with UNIX required; Linux preferred and HP-UX helpful
- Deep understanding of Apache and integration with Java application servers, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, certificate management, and shell scripting
- Solid understanding of networking including specifying and troubleshooting load balancer definitions and firewalls rules
- Candidate must show demonstrated ability to work well as a systems engineer
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to work independently and take a leadership role within the organization when needed.
Highly Desired SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Large-scale web application management experience
- Java application server experience - candidates with SAP WAS experience will be given strong preference
- Perl programming is highly desired and preferred
- Cloud development/management
- eCommerce/high-volume web environment experience
- Firewall and load balancer troubleshooting
- Experience working on multiple projects, both large (1-year+) and small ( <3 months)
- Experience setting up or working with monitoring systems
Preferred/Helpful SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Familiarity with an eCommerce and PCI-DSS environment
- Experience working with
- CDN and caching content
- Configuration management tool e.g. puppet or chef
- Version control systems e.g. svn
- Web services
- Java errors debugging and minor Java/HTML coding
