Oracle Developers
9 Months Contract
Location: Chicago, IL
Responsibilities:
Ø Adhere to IT coding standards, procedures, and techniques.
Ø Contribute to the technical code and design documentation.
Ø Successful candidate will be responsible for the design of complex ETL jobs.
Ø Conducting code reviews and ensuring quality solutions are built and tested.
Ø Advanced knowledge of PL/SQL and Oracle.
Ø Work with product development, architects and developers to review new DB related features, schema design, object structure, data flow, and SQL statements.
Ø Manage database objects including partitioned tables, indexes, views, constraints, db links, and scheduled jobs.
Ø Develop monitoring processes (capacity, performance, consistency) to assure processing issues are identified and resolved swiftly.
Ø Maintain current database schema documentation and utilize source code control.
Ø Available for on-call application level support of production systems.
Ø Coordinate with operational support team.
Ø Assure key database performance and capacity metrics remain healthy with adequate excess capacity.
Ø Provide troubleshooting expertise, identify and resolve performance issues including tuning processes.
Ø Expected to guide and mentor other database developers.
Required Skills:
Ø 7+ years of progressive development experience with Oracle RDBMS.
Ø Expert knowledge in Oracle 10g and above, in a Unix environment.
Ø Strong understanding of Oracle optimization practice for OLAP and OLTP, Data loads (SQL*Loader), and Data Pump.
Ø Proficient with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. Strong UNIX skills and shell scripting and ORACLE tools (sqlloader, export, import).
Ø Experience with Oracle partitioning, parallelism and distributed transactions (RAC a plus).
Ø Experience with Oracle analytical functions, table functions and hierarchical queries.
Ø Knowledge of DSS, ETL and star/snowflakes schemas.
Ø Knowledge of Oracle CBO queries, execution plans, query performance tuning and optimization.
Ø Proficient in Toad, Erwin and Version Control tools (CVS).
Ø Strong documentation skills and be able and willing to document all procedures
Ø Proficient in analyzing data to meet the business need
Ø Excellent analytical skills, able to interact with team members to derive and interpret business needs
Ø Mature design, coding, testing and debugging skills.
Ø Good communication skills.
Ø Good interpersonal skills.
Ø Self-motivated, self-directing and adaptive to a fast-paced environment.
Ø Academic success.
Desired Skills:
Ø Financial industry experience
Ø Large Oracle database experience (> 5 Terabytes)
Ø Oracle RAC experience
