Cognos Administrator/8BI 8.3, 8.4 and 10.1 Report Author

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

-The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years experience in developing management reports and dashboards using Cognos 8BI 8.3, 8.4 and 10.1 enterprise reporting tools.

-The applicant should have a basic understanding of OLAP cubs and underlying star schema designs.

-The experience with Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL language and database objects, such as stored procedures and user defined functions.

-Along with the Cognos administration skills and will work along side our seasoned Cognos Architect/Administrator as a back up for this position.

-The candidate should be self motivated and able to work with minimal supervision in what can be a fast moving and pressured environment.

-Multi-tasking skills are essential and a pro-active approach to the role is required.

-Good written and oral communication skills are a must as the role deals with all levels of management and staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITITES:

-The applicants' duties are to design and author Cognos 8BI dashboards, reports, charts and queries requested by the business.

-The candidate will work closely with several different business units along with the local Cognos administrator and local DBA's to meet reporting needs.

-The candidate MUST have prior experience working/building reports with DMR (Dimensionally Modeled Relational Models).

-As a Cognos Report Author, the candidate will also be responsible for the successful Portal user training and mentoring of Cognos power users (Query Studio) and Cognos consumers.

-Perform analysis of reporting requirements and convert functional specifications into appropriate technical specifications -Create DMR using Framework Manager with levels and hierarchies -Create complex reports with multiple queries, conditional formatting, multiple filters, etc.

-Create multiple detail drill through reports with complex formatting -Create analysis reports/graphs using a DMR package -Maintain existing reports and perform modifications as deemed necessary -Perform changes to the Dimensional Framework Model based on reporting requirements -Create YTD, QTD and MTD reports and provide ability to do QTR/QTR, Year/Year comparisons.
