Here is the Job Description:

Position: VB.Net Developer

Location: Irving, TX

Duration: 6 Months

 

Note: Local candidates only

 

Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs utilizing software packages considered. Responsible for designing software or customizing software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency. The technical skills include the knowledge of computer hardware and software.

The contractor will have to be proficient in both C# and VB.NET
-The GUI and web services are written in VB.NET
-Certain other processes are written in C#

The contractor will have to be knowledgeable in multiple application types
-The GUI is a Windows application
-There are also several web services
-There are also several Windows services
-There are also a few WCF services
-Also, keep in mind that our code calls unmanaged C++ routines written by Ops Research

The contractor will have to be proficient in SQL Server 2008 programming and administration
-The application is tightly coupled with multiple SQL Server databases
-Since most of the business logic is in SQL Server stored procedures and user-defined functions, the contractor will also have to be proficient in these
Some of these stored procedures are several hundred lines long and very complex
There are around 200 stored procedures and several dozen user-defined functions
-Currently, ATC Advisor is being maintained using Visual Studio 2008 (.NET 3.5). Most .NET contractors are using Visual Studio 2010 (.NET 4.0) by now (we need to get ATC Advisor to this level when it is prudent to do so).

o Windows development using VB.NET and C#
o Expert in Transact-SQL (T-SQL) Reading & writing complex stored procedures
o Web service development
o SQL Server DB administration
o Some Java knowledge preferred (because longer term we will convert this application to Java, so want to do whatever preparatory work we can now).
