MVC is a MUST.
Most of the candidates don't have MVC experience. This isn't a "must have", but the rest of the resume would have to be rock solid.
I get a little nervous when I see a lot of past experience in jobs lasting less than 12 months. The ideal candidate would generally have no less than 2 years experience at each job.
Comments:
Many of the candidates don't have the breadth or depth of front-end skills that we're looking for. They need to have deep, hands-on experience in at least 5 of the 7 below skills, with JavaScript, CSS, and MVC probably being the most important:
JavaScript
jQuery
CSS (2 & 3)
AJAX
ASP.NET MVC 3 and Web Forms
HTML (4 & 5) and XHTML
XML and JSON
