The Technical Lead – Financial Datamart is responsible for analysis, design, delivery of and conversion to financial data marts, analytical and standard reporting solutions. The incumbent is responsible for providing a technical design to meet the current and future business needs and should be adaptable for change. It is expected the candidate will understand data integration, data management and reporting concepts related to the property and casualty (P&C) insurance and Reinsurance domains, and has delivered P&C and Re data warehouse and business intelligence solutions
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, implementation of and data conversion to financial data marts using ETL, Microsoft Analysis Services OLAP cubes and standard reports on Cognos reporting platform. The incumbent must possess significant implementation and data conversion experience in global finance information/data related disciplines, such as data warehousing, business intelligence, information architecture, data integration, and/or information delivery capabilities.
Translate the business requirements into detailed technical design by creating logical and physical data models, data integration patterns, balancing and error handling routines with an emphasis on delivering high performance reporting and analytical solutions
Analyze available documentation and existing data marts to leverage and reuse implemented components. Implement Adhoc, analytical and standard reporting solutions using best practices for optimal performance. Design, create and maintain reporting artifacts with traceability to business requirements effectively utilizing metadata and versioning capabilities
Works closely with all internal and external business partners to deliver Financial Reporting solutions that will support and shape the strategic themes and support business operational excellence. Participates and provides inputs / decisions on overall business process and technology architecture strategy, policies / guidelines, design and remediation
Create and maintain data/information environment performance requirements/attributes to ensure optimal performance of the organization*s data and business intelligence environment. Recommend hardware, including sizing and configuration to ensure the long term viability of the enterprise data warehousing and business intelligence solutions
Lead onshore and offshore developers to implement data marts and financial reporting solutions
Qualifications
• At least 7 years progressive experience in information/data related disciplines, such as data warehousing, business intelligence, information architecture , data integration, and/or information delivery capabilities.
• Experience with hands on design, development and data conversion of high performance data marts, analytical and standard reporting solutions using industry standard design principles; Dimensional modeling and OLAP cubes, standard reports using Microsoft Analysis Services and Cognos reporting solutions
• Experience with designing a logical data models based on functional requirements and supporting the development of the physical data bases during subsequent implementation phases
• Strong technical skills with all data warehousing and related technologies (e.g. ODS, RDBMS, DWH, BI, and ETL)
• Should be an expert on SQL Server Transact SQL and comfortable performing deep data analysis to identify data patterns and anomalies to drive enterprise ready detailed design
• Implementation experience with one or more of the following BI/Enterprise Reporting tools: SQL Server, Business Objects, Cognos, Micro strategy, Oracle, Microsoft SSAS, SSRS and OBIEE
• Expertise designing balancing controls and error handling routines to ensure data integrity across source systems and reporting solutions without compromising overall system performance
• Experienced in database sizing and performance tuning using advanced performance optimization techniques
• Knowledge of existing Insurance / Re-insurance data warehouses and datamarts and financial subledger in support of financial close process
• Experience leading onshore and offshore developers
• Financial Services and / or Insurance industry experience preferred
• Understands Finance CoA/Dimensions, General Ledger and subledgers inclusive of front end applications / source systems
• Excellent written communication skills
Education:
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems and/or demonstrated experience in delivering data management and business intelligence solutions
• Hands-on experience using ETL and database/warehousing tools: Informatica, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SSRS, Cognos and Erwin
• Experience delivering data warehouse and business intelligence solutions within a P&C and Reinsurance domain
Certifications:
• Advanced degree and/or related certifications (i.e., CBIP) a plus
• Experience working on business accounting project(s) is required; knowledge of commercial business event/accounting hub software a plus.
