Responsibilities:

• Assessing and providing constructive feedback on the usability of existing web and mobile assets
• Defining and developing personas and user stories that align with the client's core customer segments
• Developing high-level concepts for web and mobile features and functionality
• Developing detailed navigation flows, sitemaps, wireframes and interface design/functional specification that capture site processes and all user interaction points within the system
• Design, facilitate, and provide feedback and recommendations for web and mobile usability testing
• Develop solid requirements with business analysts and systems developers to enable directly moving to system design and development
• Research the latest technologies, best practices and online trends providing guidance to both internal staff as well as clients.

 

Must Have Skills:

• A demonstrated strong creative vision or organizing interactive information systems for web portals and mobile.  
• Experience in analysis, design and/or developing web applications in: Java, JavaScript, and Mobile Development
• Experience with HTML, CSS and user interface design
• Background in an object-oriented language such as Java and experience building web applications
• Examples of delivering a project using latest interactive web experiences (e.g. Ajax, Flex, or Silverlight)
• Familiarity with web APIs and development frameworks

• Well-rounded knowledge of web serving and desktop computing needs Knowledge and Experience in user‐centered design (UCD) Portal/Web design

• Experience in creating mockup interfaces that define, refine, and demonstrate user interface design usability, accessibility, look and feel

• Knowledge of technologies included in PHMSA System Architecture, their limitations and strengths as it pertains to portal design

 

Desired Skills:

• Understanding of web services technologies such as SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST
• Experience with Scrum or Agile development a plus
• Familiarity with using version control systems
• Experience designing and conducting usability sessions, task analysis, rapid prototyping, and other types of needs / goals analysis for both web and mobile sites
• Front end application / screen design experience
• Experience in a Unix/Linux environment
• Information architecture mapping
• Task analysis (task flow description)
• Human Factors expertise including accessibility
• Wireframe Notation (compliance, interaction, standards, etc.)
• Bachelor's Degree in Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Information Architecture, Fine Arts, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction or Information Technology with relevant experience preferred.
