Role - Technical Analyst  - Storage Infrastructure Support

Location – Bloomington, IL

 Job Description:

Enterprise Platform Support – Storage is a third-level team that provides performance measurement and capacity planning services designed to ensure that the Enterprise Storage systems have adequate, but not excessive hardware/software resources needed to meet the business demand of the enterprise and to provide third level support for Storage problem/incident resolution within the disciplines contained in our team responsibilities.  This includes the application of capacity planning and utilization of performance best practices as they apply to systems resources from planning through production.  These services are provided to Systems business partners via research; consultation/collaboration; proactive interaction conveying Capacity Management and Performance strategies and techniques; and capturing measurements to ensure Service Level Objectives can be achieved and evaluated. This position of a SAN/NAS Performance Engineer will primarily focus on tasks associated with Performance and Capacity planning of our Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) infrastructure, and the associated fiber infrastructure needed to support these technologies. Skills and Expertise: · Storage hardware (IBM, HP and HDS SAN disk arrays, HDS HNAS) and SAN switches (CISCO) · Storage management software (HDvM, StorageNavigator, HDS Device Manager, IBM SVC native utilities, HDS HNAS native utilities-SMU ) · CISCO Switch management software (Device Manager, Fabric Manager) and storage protocols. · Storage virtualization techniques (Array based virtualization using HDS VSP and Storage virtualization using IBM SVC) · Storage and switch performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools and techniques. Role - Technical Analyst  - Capacity Planning.

 Job Description:

Capacity Availability Performance Lead Please send to all external vendors. The CAP Leads will be responsible for ensuring all appropriate analysis, documentation and concerns for Capacity, Availability and Performance are addressed within their respective Solution Centers. They will assist their Solution Centers with topics from Service Design through Service Transition. A Capacity Lead will provide direct strategic and technical connection within the respective Solution Center to core services provided as part of Capacity Management based on industry trends and best practices.  CAP Lead – Role and Responsibilities: · The CAP Lead should be a Technical Analyst with a Performance Skillset, and have a technical knowledge across multiple technical platforms (ex. Distributed, Mainframe, Network, SAN, Modeling).  · Provide stewardship of Capacity Management considerations. (ex. IT Architects, CACs, lead developers, business analysts). · Stewardship of performance measures and mitigation approaches to the core services/products/applications supported for respective Solution Centers  · Develop and maintain strong strategic relationships with strategic performance test leads. · Serve as an escalation point within a Solution Center and triage for any perceived or actual Capacity, Availability, and Performance issues or gaps. · Serve as a contact for services provided by Capacity, Availability, and Performance Management. · Serve as a connection to Capacity Liaisons and assistance with capacity projections. · Acquire a solid understanding of the Capacity, Availability, and Performance tools and processes used by Capacity, Availability, and Performance analysts in order to provide assistance to their respective Solution Centers. · Distribution of key Capacity, Availability, and Performance information and contacts to Solution Center efforts and ongoing Service(s). · Ensure that Service Design artifacts are documented at various touch points:       o Prior to Determining Platform Impacts       o Business Case development       o Project Planning       o At project activation       o Prior to Project Testing       o Prior to Implementation · Provide consultation and options to Service Design to address potential Capacity, Availability, and Performance issues or gaps. · Serve as a resource for applications within a Solution Center for current utilization and expected future utilization. · Serve as a resource for bottleneck analysis and performance degradations inclusive of efforts not currently being addressed by open project. · Serve as intermediary between the service provider(s) and the Solution Center contact for Capacity Management related issues. · Ensure appropriate monitoring and reporting needs for the day-to-day performance of the applications. · Be able to ask the question "Are Capacity, Availability, and Performance SLAs and OLAs being met?" · Serve as an escalation point between a Solution Center and Capacity, Availability, and Performance Management for project or service concerns related to consumption of Capacity, Availability, and Performance Management.

Enterprise Digital Media Services Technical Analyst provides application support for the various Media Management/Distribution/Ingestion systems used at State Farm.  The Technical Analyst provides support and ownership for the servers which host these applications as well.  Server-level support involves:  managing updates, reviewing/setting-up backups, disaster recovery, server performance, incident/problem management, and change management.  The Technical Analyst role also contributes to the various Enterprise Digital Media projects in terms of both design and implementation. Skills include: *Strong communication skills a plus* *Experience with digital media (video, audio, photos/graphics) management a plus -Windows Server 2003/2008 -VMware -IIS -Windows Media Services -JAVA or some form of programming skills a plus. -Networking:  IP routing, proxy, web filtering, firewall, caching devices, etc. -Knowledge of streaming media technologies is a plus as well: WMV, WMA, MP3, MP4, codecs, encoding, transcoding, bitrate, streaming quality (384kbps vs. 3000kbps)
