Job Description:
The Database Administrator provides day-to-day support for relational database management systems (RDBMS) and database instances, and participates as a subject matter expert in data-driven application development and integration projects. The qualified candidate develops specifications for database construction and maintenance to ensure economy, efficiency, and security; configures and documents new and existing database instances; and creates and maintains database level objects and elements. Key responsibilities for this position include
maintaining and optimizing database instances, developing maintenance plans, archiving data, monitoring the current state/health of database instances, performing capacity planning activities, and ensuring all database instances are backed up properly based on application, data, and business requirements. Additional responsibilities include ensuring recovery procedures are well documented and tested, enforcing naming standards for database elements, and reviewing and optimizing SQL statements used to retrieve or manipulate data. The role frequently collaborates with application developers and proactively suggests improvements to the supported environments based on ongoing monitoring and analysis.
Experience (Minimum Required):
• Three or more years experience as a database administrator (either Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle RDBMS).
• Expertise with T-SQL programming (Microsoft SQL Server) and/or PL/SQL programming (Oracle).
• Expert knowledge of triggers, stored procedures, and functions.
• Experience architecting, designing, implementing, and supporting Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions.
• Experience with and knowledge of Data Marts, ODS, ETL, and Reporting and Analystics Applications.
• SSIS (Microsoft SQL Server) knowledge and experience.
Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job:
• Must possess the ability to work in a dynamic environment, handling demanding internal and external customers to their satisfaction.
• Broad knowledge of multiple technical environments, platforms, and interfaces.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging network technologies and trends
Education (Minimum Required): Associates degree in Computer Science or another relevant field. Equivalent technical training/business experience may be substituted.
