Job Title: BI ETL Architect

Location:  Chicago, IL

Duration: 1+ Year Contract

Job Responsibilities

The BI Architect will play a key role on Business Analytics Technology team.

Translate requirements into technical specifications for BI solutions, including ETLs, dimensional models and SSAS/tabular Cubes within the Microsoft BI stack. Working with the BI development team, design and develop the appropriate solutions by providing architectural direction and know-how. Identify appropriate presentation layer for projects including PowerPivot, PowerView and SSRS. Research emerging technologies and BI techniques, evaluate for applicability, and create practical deployment plans. Recognize opportunities and deploy solutions for improving business decisions including predictive modeling and big data analysis techniques. Optimize solutions for performance and management. Ensure best practices and standards are followed in development and deployment.

Candidates must have 10+ years of development experience in the Business Intelligence space. Must have design and delivery experience with several BI projects and a solid understanding of dimensional database design. Candidates should have knowledge of best practices across the entire BI stack. Should have at least 2 years of advanced development experience in SSAS/tabular. Ability to produce architectural, technical, and business facing documentation is a must, as is some hands-on ability with SQL, DAX, SSAS/tabular, and other BI tools.

Other Required Skills

•Experience in designing cube dimensions and measures that meet complex business needs

•Good experience in advanced SSAS concepts including designing bridge tables, handling multiple fact tables in a cube, ragged hierarchies, partitions and security options

•Experience with designing cubes that need to handle large volumes of data

•Solid experience in DAX

•Experience with performance tuning in SSAS/tabular

•Knowledge of capabilities of various tools within MS BI stack (SSRS, SSIS), as well as 3rdparty tools.

•Experience with SharePoint BI capabilities especially PowerPivot and PowerView would be a big plus

•Good SQL Server development experience (stored procedures, views, user defined functions)

•Experience with SSIS and/or SSRS is a plus

•Good working knowledge of Iterative and/or Agile development methodologies
