Job Description:
Ø As Senior Developer work closely with System Architect and onshore/offshore development team to develop Common Middle Tier memory cache for start of day and intraday data used by Fixed Income and Cash front-office applications.
Ø The initial Common Middle Tier will be developed in 3 phases; the first phase addressed system architecture and technology; the second phase is developing a minimum viable product; the third phase will complete core functionality for two Fixed Income front-office applications.
Ø Future versions will extend the Common Middle Tier with projected and proposed data, as well as increased data coverage for existing and future applications.
Ø The Common Middle Tier is built using Java, Oracle, Datomic and Odata technologies and client applications are built using .NET and PowerBI.
Responsibilities:
Ø Working closely with System Architect evolve design of Common Middle Tier memory cache
Ø Lead development of Middle Tier cache using Datomic sourcing data from Oracle OLTP database
Ø Participate in development of File to Cache framework for rapid loading of large datasets from vendor files to memory cache
Ø Support middle tier integration using Odata protocol for Excel PowerQuery and .Net applications
Ø Assist data warehouse project team with root cause analysis and design approaches on occasion
Ø Evaluate and propose design options, seeking out the simplest design required
Ø Mentor and coach junior developers mostly offshore on software development best practices
Ø Conduct and participate in design and code reviews
Ø Insure unit testing, simple design and refactoring practiced
Ø Drive test driven development & continuous integration to further transition to Agile development methodology
Required Experience & Qualifications
Ø 8+ years in software development with roles as lead developer and system architect
Ø 4+ years in Asset Management domain developing front, middle and/or back office applications
Ø Strong enterprise architecture, relational database design, and object oriented design skills
Ø Expert Oracle PL/SQL skills, strong Microsoft .Net (WPF and DevExpress) skills, good Java skills
Ø Experienced in Unit Testing, Test Driven Development, Continuous Build and Integration
Ø Experienced mentoring and coaching junior developers, especially offshore developers
Ø Strong documentation and communication skills
Desired Experience & Qualifications
Ø Good understanding of Fixed Income and Money Markets; exposure to Exchange Traded Funds
Ø Experience developing middle tier memory cache for use by front office applications
Ø Exposure to Datomic distributed database technology or Datalog highly desirable
Ø Experience with OData data access protocol and web services such as REST or SOAP
Ø Experience with rules engines such as Drools
Ø Experience with data warehouses using Star Schema and Cognos beneficial
Ø Exposure to Agile software development and practitioner of Lean principles
Ø Strong organizational and prioritization skills
