Primary Skills: Mainframe Storage Management of Disk and Tape arena and it's related devices
Responsibilities:
- Understand and implement specific customer requirements
- Problem determination, RCA, Change management - planning and execution that includes configuration changes
- Planning Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
- Responsible for Mainframe Storage Management of Disk and Tape arena and it's related devices
- Extensive hands on experience on the following Software: JCL, SAS, IDCAMS, DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DCOLLECT, ISMF, JES2, JES3, CA-1, DFSMSRMM, PPRCMM, VSAM, ICF CATALOGS, REXX, MAINSTAR Software Suite, MAINVIEW SRM, FDR, TDMF, REPLICATOR, MOBIUS, TLMS, VANTAGE
- Perform daily storage health checks for SILO, SILOSMC, Drives, Tape pool usage, VTS specialist check for any interventions, Backend Active/Scratch tape count, VTS total tape usage, DASD SMS/HSM Pools, Storage Groups, HSM functions (Bkup/Migration/Recycle)
- Monitor, report and take action on data with invalid blocksize, Invalid Dsorg/DCB etc
- Monitor tape and DASD performance and response time using Mainview, VEHSTATS, Intellimagic or similar tools
- Administer, maintain & control DFSMS policies and constructs. Working knowledge of SMS/ACS routine functionality and how it works.
- Monitor and manage Mainview rules, resource list and filter list, strategy and related reports
- Perform volume defrags and compaction utilities using FDR/CPK, DFDSS
- Assist and perform special projects assignments, volume consolidation using – TDMF, DFDSS migrations, etc…
- Support and Maintain the IBM Flashcopy process, PPRC, XRC, Global Mirror, GDPS
- Working knowledge and advanced understanding of automated tape libraries (VTS/ATL), STK Silo, TS7700. Working knowledge of OAM.
- Configure & Maintain Remote Replication Methods using Disk and Tape Hardware
- Perform DR prep work, documentation and recovery. Implement, schedule & maintain utilities/jobs in support of Disaster Recovery based on application and system requirements
- Install, upgrade, customize and test IBM storage related software on z/OS (inc. IBM & ISV)
