Location - Pittsburgh PA

Interactive Developer, Technology & Development

Reports To: Director, Technology & Development

 

 

Responsibilities:

 Collaborating with Development, R&D, and Consulting teams to design and develop new features

that effectively enhance the experience of users of our assessment interface and administrative

website.

 Identifying user and product requirements and translating them into documentation, design

specifications, mockups, and rapid prototypes in order to develop applications that are elegant and

reliable.

 Assisting with the implementation of coding standards and development processes.

 Communicating development issues to management for both implementation and scheduling

purposes, participating effectively in the design process and software development life cycle in a

team environment, and taking ownership of previously existing software.

 Assisting with producing software development estimates.

 Successfully engaging in multiple initiatives simultaneously.

 Handling several concurrent tasks and meeting scheduled milestones for each.

 Reproducing field problems and assisting support when needed.

 Managing day-to-day tasks productively, without management direction.

 Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

 BS in Computer Science or other technical or design discipline, or the equivalent in work experience.

 3-7 years of professional web-development experience.

 Extensive knowledge of web technologies, including HTML5, JavaScript, CSS, DOM manipulation

frameworks (jQuery).

 Strong web application interface and visual design skills.

 Solid understanding of web and mobile web standards, best practices, and (legacy and modern)

browser capabilities, with experience in responsive design, cross-platform design, and progressive

enhancement.

 Knowledge of usability, human factors, and the UX process.

 Visual Studio 2012, 2013.

 Source control (i.e. TFS 2012) proficiency in team environments.

 Experience with and understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

 Experience with software development projects resulting in successful product deliveries.

 Attention to detail.

 Must be able to work independently as well as in small groups to solve problems.

 High initiative and self-motivated to exceed project expectations.

 Must be willing to wear multiple hats to exceed client expectation as needed.

 Strong oral and written communication skills.

 Proven people skills with an emphasis on teamwork.

Pluses:

 Experience with using and creating RESTful API systems, JSON, XML, and AJAX.

 Familiarity with the Model View Controller (MVC) software architecture pattern.

 Development experience with SQL databases.

 Experience developing for mobile and tablet platforms.

 MS in Computer Science or other technical discipline.

 Familiarity with Agile Project Management with Scrum and Kanban.

 Experience working for Application Service Provider (ASP) or Software as a service (SaaS) company.
