Senior .NET Developer

Boston MA

Rate: $70/hr.  C2C

Phone and in person is must.

Candidate will have senior-level development skills complimented by a working knowledge of the Financial Markets, ideally specific to alternative assets.  In addition to producing quality code, candidate will be able to "wear multiple hats" and apply analytical thinking to challenges presented.  Must have analytical expertise; be capable of identifying and understanding relationships among problems, technology, data, and business needs.  Candidate will also contribute to architectural design process. 

• Conduct research and analysis on data and functionality questions with a core focus on technical interpretation

•   Interpret business requirements / functional specifications and convert into technical design

• Participate in project planning and management by providing development estimates, updates, and technical consultation

• Assist with development and execution of functional test cases

• Become very familiar with existing user built (Excel) solutions as well as IT built systems.

• Become very familiar with the day to day process of the business teams IT is supporting.

• Develop solutions for business needs with a focus on .NET, VB, Oracle technologies

Requirements:

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to liaise with business analysts, QA, and business

·         10 years of professional experience in a .Net Developer role; must have experience in the investment/asset management sector.  Strong positive if experienced in the alternatives/hedge fund space.

·         Strong Development background working with .NET, Visual Basic (Excel Macros) and Oracle

·         Experience with Front Arena, Mat lab, Fidessa buy-side suite, and Excel (including macros) a very strong plus.

·         Candidate must be comfortable with investment domain and technology concepts and have education and work experience supporting both.

·         Bachelor or Master's degree in technology and/or finance; knowledge of asset management industry with hedge fund/alternative being greatly preferred)

·         Experience working with Agile methodology a strong plus

·         Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaborative skills

·         High standard of quality, attention to detail and organizational aptitude

·         Requires independent initiative to analyze data and information with a drive to develop value-added solutions

·         Ability to work well in a cross functional/global team

·         Senior-level proficiency using windows-based applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio

Ability to multi task and be adaptable.
