Job Title: Unix/Linux Systems Support Analyst

We are currently looking for a Unix/Linux Systems Support Analyst to join our team in Illinois.
Qualifications:
Client is looking for a full time Unix/Linux Systems Support Analyst to provide coverage for 3rd shift support of incident management of systems generated alerts to determine the status of the infrastructure and applications that are used by client employees and customers. This team helps facilitate the recovery of the applications and infrastructure should an outage occur. Once alerted, the team uses a number of tools to gather diagnostics and then affect the recovery from the outage. The UNIX Server support team provides technical support for UNIX operating systems and hardware. The team is the primary point of contact to business partners for resolving UNIX related incidents, providing service restoration, troubleshooting system failures, and implementing UNIX hardware/software changes for the enterprise server environment remotely using Service Management Processes (SMP). The team provides 7X24 coverage (3 shift environment) and partners will other technical areas to resolve issues as needed. The team works with UNIX Hands-On Server team and/or appropriate vendors to resolve incidents; maintains server availability and stability; and provides input for improvement of team workflow. Other responsibilities may include serving as a technical subject matter expert on various projects; reviewing and creating knowledge items; and reviewing and creating team procedures and documentation. Work assignments are received via project requests, phone calls, and through SMP using Service Manager (incidents, Change Requests, & Request for Service).

Technical Skills required include:
· Experience with LINUX, VMware, Tomcat webserver, and shell scripting.
· Experience and/or knowledge of Storage Area Networks.
· Knowledge of x86 server architecture.
· Experience with Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and Networked File Systems (NFS).
· Ability to create, review and update KIs and develop technical documentation
· Builds new and/or modifies existing software to meet business and technical requirements.
· Implements software solutions and resolve problems.
· Provides support for problem and issue resolution and provides technical consultation.
· Demonstrates a working knowledge of web development tools, processes, and technical architecture to perform daily activities.
· Handles and resolves routine problems and moderately complex assignments, but may require assistance and guidance for more complex issues
· Develops knowledge of areas within Systems and how they relate to assigned area and each other
· Leads tactical work and contributes to strategic work (creating new or modifying existing applications/tools to meet technical specifications or business needs) and coordinates team activities as needed.
· Works under general direction/guidance
· Experience with HP-UX, AIX, LINUX, or Solaris Operating Systems, system administration, hardware, and related tools
· Experience with DNS and TCP/IP
· Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex hardware and operating
· System issues and perform incident and event trend analysis
· Ability to complete initial root cause analysis and recommend/develop automated solutions as needed.
· Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, DHCP, and DNS.
· Demonstrated ability to perform troubleshooting and develop solutions.
· Strong knowledge of Service Manager and a basic understanding of OVO monitoring.
· Familiar with router and switch hardware
