Position: Mainframe Tester

Location: Downingtown, PA

Duration: 6 Months

Job Description: 

Specific responsibilities include:

·        Interpret acceptance criteria within Rally user stories to develop test cases; and execute test plan through system, integration and end to end test

·        Actively engage in daily scrum meetings with engineering and development teams

·        Prepare test suite and ensure appropriate test coverage based on scope of work and quality strategy

·        Determine the requirements for applicable test tools/harnesses, test environment configuration, and test data

·        Execute test cases, document test results, and publish daily status report for all stakeholders

·        Open defects with a clear and concise description and work closely with developers to help pinpoint code defects or design/environment/architecture/configuration issues and perform root cause analysis

·        Coordinate joint system testing with upstream and downstream partners as well as other test engineers

·        Interface with Test Team Lead, Project Manager, and Product Engineers/Developers  

·        Leverage and support off shore team and validate any issues raised

·        Support automation development for assigned Rally user stories to build/enhance the commercial automation framework and automation of test scenarios; existing development work is leveraging VSTS

·        Support performance and load testing of WCF service to validate 3^rd party vendor's new API; existing development work for functional scripts is leveraging VSTS

Skill Set/Job Requirements:

·        Create and execute test plans and test cases using HP ALM

·        Experience in developing test plans, executing test cases, tracking test progress, evaluating results, and triaging defects

·        Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working as a part of a scrum team

·        Ability to access, read, and interpret application log files and event queues, write SQL queries, access LDAP directories

·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with test engineers, product engineers, project managers, developers, business analysts, and operations teams

·        Demonstrated flexibility to meet aggressive timelines generally associated with testing activities (including occasional off hours and weekend support)

·        Needs to be able to independently create and execute test plans, analyze test results and be confident making decisions and providing recommendations for improvement
