Description:

Maintains, enhances and troubleshoots existing Java applications. Troubleshoot and modify integration issues, understanding system touch points.  React quickly to system failures, minimizing system downtime.  Responsible for estimating, programming, documenting, debugging and testing Java applications within the Company's environment; interacts with IT staff and business users as appropriate; develops solutions in accordance with established division and group IT policies and architecture.

Responsibilities for this Position Include:

• Working with stakeholders maintains Java systems within the company by performing analysis of systems and implementing remediation needs to increase stability and availability.
• Works with the application support team to define and develop solutions to stakeholder needs and works with the technical team to implement the solutions.
• Installs revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques; coordinating installation requirements.
• Participates in code reviews with Architecture and development in order to insure best practices are followed.
• Prepares users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems.
• Provides information by answering questions and requests.
• Supports java tool sets and coding utilities.
• Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Report on database availability, able to document root cause of issues.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required  
• Bachelors Degree in MIS, Computer Science or equivalent work experience strongly preferred

• Relevant technology certification is encouraged
• 3-5 years in an Application Support Java developer role.
• Supported multiple server and database on 24 X 7 environments
• Responding to users and developer issues. Good working knowledge of application architecture.

• Experience with Java 1.4 and above, Weblogic 8.1, Tomcat 7, Apache HTTP 2.0, Oracle 9.2, SQL Server 2000 and above required.
• Shell Scripting: Creation of installation and maintenance scripts for automation of installation and maintenance of the Java Systems
• Experience with various Java Development Tools – IdeaJ, Eclipse, Toad, DBvisualizer, Jenkins, GIT, CVS, UNIX, Windows Server

• Experience with GIS systems, especially ARCIMS, preferred
