Position : Vmware Engineer
Length: 6 months with the option to extend
We have an immediate need for a VMware Engineer/Administrator. We are very interested in candidates with any Cisco UCS experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Assists with designing, building, testing, tuning and implementing new ESX and virtual machine environments
•Ensures any environments provided are aligned with QVC norms, standards, and best practices.
•Resolves technical incidents, and provides root cause analysis, recommending prevention of future occurrences, providing descriptive and timely updates.
•Verifies adequate toolsets and workflows exist to meet anticipated requirements, makes recommendations to improve the environment as necessary.
•Creates and edits documentation for any scripting, integration, automation, workflows, processes, procedures, or environments created.
•Participates on projects, works with a project team and proactively communicates status to the project manager and other relevant parties.
•Shares knowledge and mentors QVC staff members as needed.
Specific Job Knowledge
•Maintain virtualized architecture using VMware management tools (vCenter, vRealize Operations, VMware Configuration Manager
•Advance knowledge of VMware vSphere.
•Advanced knowledge of virtualized environments, Windows/Linux/Unix administration
•Understanding of Active Directory, Clustering, Cisco UCS, VMware Configuration Manager, or Redhat Satellite, Puppet a plus.
Qualifications
•Bachelors' degree required in Computer Science, Information Science or related field of study, or equivalent years' experience.
•Experience working in a corporate environment with mission critical business systems.
•Experience working with tight project schedules for installing, monitoring and troubleshooting hardware, software, and applications running in a multi-tier environment.
•Experience with International support is a plus.
•Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required.
•Ability to work individually as well as within a team.
•As required, work any shift/extended shift and participate in an on-call support rotation
•VMware Certified Professional (VCP) VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) a plus
