Our client in NYC is seeking a Senior MDM Business Analyst for a long-term contract opportunity.

We are seeking a focused and accomplished Business Analyst with 5+ years of experience with a strong focus on data driven projects. You will be responsible for conducting needs and impact analysis on business requests, and defining ways to link data, processes, and systems throughout the organization to achieve optimal efficiency and align information technology with business initiatives. You will be responsible for functional and data specifications, and assist in the creation of test plans and quality assurance procedures for the Master Data Management (MDM) platform.

Responsibilities

• Identify product and customer data business requirements, translate them into system functional requirements and coordinate implementation of MDM platform solutions
• Interview customers and stakeholders to identify and document data requirements for integration and conversion efforts
• Design and recommend modifications to existing data governance processes
• Review designs and develop test cases for the MDM solution to validate data lifecycle management
• Identify and design solutions to resolve quality issues including data integrity, accuracy, consistency and completeness in an efficient and timely manner, for data used by multiple business units
• Validate the business need for solutions to business problems and process improvements
• Act as a master data management platform SME
• Review requests to load/extract from the MDM platform and evaluate/report the impact to use cases
• Provide or assist with user training when needed
• Recommend usability changes to user interfaces and reports
• Respond to questions and ensure understanding of why the business solution was chosen
• Provide input on the business direction for system changes
• Generate and/or refine presentations for business, management and technical resources
• Align technical teams with business requirements and objectives on an ongoing basis. 
• Work with technical teams to generate source to target documentation, and system recommendations.
• Identify and document existing processes, data points, workflows, gaps, and risks
• Summarize insights, and communicate implications for internal and external stakeholders
• Utilize Excel, SQL and other tools to understand and compare data

Qualifications/Requirements

• Must possess excellent communication, organizational and technical skills
• Bachelor's degree, preferably with a focus in MIS, computer science, mathematics, engineering, science, or other quantitative field
• 5+ years of experience working in Business Analysis
• 2+ years' experience working in Business Process and Analysis for large data driven projects such as Data Migration, ETL, Analytics, Data Governance or Master Data Management
• 2+ years' experience working in Business Analysis in an agile environment formulating user stories to focus on business specific value drivers, writing detailed acceptance criteria, grooming and prioritizing backlogs
• Experience with simple SQL scripts (creating, reading, running, customizing)
• Experience with complex process data mapping (ETL) that defines technical and business rules.
• Experience working on SOA back-end projects which deliver services and messages
• Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner. Demonstration of prior work.
• Experience working with technology and business SMEs to document as-is and to-be processes and data requirements
• Skills utilizing MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio), SQL

The following are beneficial to the position, but not required:

• Knowledge of publishing industry or multi-channel product management
• Knowledge of data profiling tools
• Knowledge of Stibo STEP or other MDM platforms

Technical background as a developer or data analyst architect
