Position:Network Security Engineer
Location:in Wilson, NC.
Duration : 6 Months + extensions
GC,EAD and Citizen required
Provides consulting and guidance on network security issues to other departments and internally during the development, implementation and ongoing lifecycle of IT systems and vulnerability analytics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the essential job functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
Responsibilities :
- Recommend design changes or enhancements to improve system availability and performance.
- Perform and analyze vulnerability assessments and large vulnerability data analysis
- Analyze security logs generated by Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, firewalls, network flow systems, Anti-Virus and other security logging sources in correlation with vulnerability analysis
- Perform Security analysis utilizing SIEM technologies
- Provide Tier III level support for security issues that come through the network operations center.
- Generate network monitoring and performance reports providing trend analysis and capacity planning documents.
- Execute network mitigation tuning, incident resolution and disaster recovery.
- Perform training of less experienced personnel.
- Provide 24x7 on-call availability for supported infrastructure.
Skills and Competencies:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and or ability required. We are building a team of 4 individuals and among those four must have expertise to cover the below areas of expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent education and related training.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Information Technology.
- Intermediate to expert support around F5 and Akamai security solutions
- Intermediate to expert support around the following: Packet Capture, Sniffers, NetQoS, Cisco
- Sourcefire, firewalls, SNMP, RADIUS, TACACS, VPN, SSL, TCL/Perl scripting, Python, Network Access Control (NAC)
- A comprehensive understanding of applied enterprise network technology including Cisco routing and switching and traffic mitigation strategies.
- Extensive knowledge of data flow, server systems, problem analysis, and systems tuning in a large corporate environment.
- Adept with network interfaces and technologies.
- Resourcefulness in multi-tasking, anticipating needs, developing creative solutions, and researching/synthesizing information to resolve problems with minimal supervision
- The capacity to acquire complex technical concepts through training and self-study.
- Ability to move and install technical equipment.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- One (or more) of the following Certifications required: CCNP, CCSP, CISSP, RCSS, RCSE, QSA, CCSA, CCSE
- Technical skills will include; in-depth understanding of network security issues, firewalls, intrusion detection, authentication, hacker tools and methodology, current network operating systems, routing, incident response and process development
