Sr. UNIX Engineer
The Unix engineer will be responsible for the configuration, patching, upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting of UNIX (Solaris/RHEL) operating systems. The engineer will participate in agile departmental projects including the development of project plans, documentation, and performing of project tasks. Additional responsibilities include user account management, performance monitoring/tuning and backup/recovery.
Job Requirements:
• Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
• Knowledge and hands on experience with FTP and secure FTP
• Knowledge and hands on experience with DNS, name services and general networking configurations
• SNMP knowledge in respect to setting up monitoring and alerting for Unix/Linux systems
• Shell and Perl scripting capability
• System performance and capacity planning
• Works under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions
• Tests new release levels of existing products to insure compatibility and minimize user impact
• Advanced knowledge of Solaris 10/11 virtualization methods
• Knowledge of Siteminder (SSO) & BigIP (load balancing) is preferred
• Knowledge in VMWare Hypervisor 5.x
• Experience in Puppet Labs/Automation
• Supporting applications/DB like SAP/Oracle
The ideal candidate will have:
• 7 years' experience with Oracle/Sun servers
• 7 years' experience with Solaris 10/11 administration
• 5 years' experience with LDOM/Zones/Containers
• 5 years' experience with setting up and supporting clustering software (i.e. VCS or Oracle)
• 5 years LINUX (RHEL 5/6) experience
5 years with Unix/Linux scripting
• 5 years' experience in setting up new enterprise level environment (not operational support)
• 5 years' experience supporting Middleware software such as Websphere or Weblogic
• 3 years' experience with ZFS filesystems
• 3 years' experience with Solaris Volume Manager
