Job Duties and Description:

Business Analysis Consultant

Big Data Development and Analytics
Part of a 6-7 member team consisting of Data Analysts, Developer and Business Intelligence people

What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position?

• Develop solutions for key business initiatives ensuring alignment with future state analytics vision
• Engage constructively with project teams to support project objectives through the application of sound architectural principles
• Develop and validate that the proposed solution architecture supports the stated & implied business requirements of the project
• Utilize statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling as well as business strategy skills to build the algorithms necessary to ask the right questions and find the right answers
• Designs experiments, test hypotheses, and build models
• Develop solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging pattern detection over potentially large datasets.
• Propose innovative ways to look at problems by using data mining
• Validate findings using an experimental and iterative approach
• Communicate and present findings, orally and visually in a way that can be easily understood by their business counterparts
• Summarize and present findings; adjust the content and level of detail to appropriate level of the audience
• Use strong business, problem solving skills and programming knowledge to quickly cycle hypotheses through discovery
• Work closely with clients, clinicians, data stewards, and other business and technology leaders to frame problem definition and potential solutions

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, machine learning, and/or forecasting/predicting analytics
• Experience working on Big Data tools (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Pig, Splunk etc.) (Structured and Unstructured Data)
• Experience with R, SAS, Python, or equivalent language
• 2+ more years of experience working with multiple projects through the entire SDLC

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with Big Data tools/frameworks like: MapReduce, MPP, Teradata, Amazon Elastic, Storm, HPCC, Microsoft PDW, Pentaho, QlikView or other big data analytics tools
• Experience with streaming data / Complex Events Processing (CEP) Tools: Apache Spark Streaming
• Experience with Visualization and analysis tools: Tableau, QlikView, Tibco Spotfire, or equivalent
• Experience with Meta Data Tools and Techniques
• Experience working in an Agile Software Development environment
• Experience with Java development
