Location: Boston MA (Needs in-person interview)

Duration: 6+ months

The Applications Support Specialist responsibilities include: maintaining existing/new software applications; as well as identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving application and systems issues. Specific applications within the Middleware Technology space that will be supported are IIS 5.0/6.0/7.5 Web sites/services and Tomcat App Server.  Additional exposure in at least one of the following areas: WebLogic products (Server, Service Bus, or Portal), BizTalk 2006 or SharePoint 2007/2010 required. Expertise in Windows

2003/2008 required and Linux RHEL experience preferred.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide operational support to development groups; resolve production application and software issues.

Performs system software updates, system software maintenance and product upgrades.

Work with other internal infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration Perform Incident resolution, Problem Determination and Root Cause Analysis in accordance with Service Level Agreements.

Prescribes system backup / disaster recovery procedures and directs recovery operations in the event of destruction of all or part of the operating system or other system components.

Implements appropriate levels of system security.

Provides technical expertise for system transitions, migrations and application software updates.

Provides technical assistance to IT support staff, including but not limited to, DBAs, Network Engineers, Application Developers, and other System Administrators.
