Background:
This position involves the development of online reporting and business intelligence solutions for the End Client's Customers' utilizing the SAS EBI suite of products. The position supports the End Client's main reporting products, which include robust operational and analytical tools used by analysts, healthcare professionals, and health plan managers and executives.
SAS recently published a success story, highlighting the End Client's innovative approaches to collecting data from various medical sources and transforming this information into meaningful reporting tools to benefit both physicians and patients. Please open the following link to read the article: http://www.sas.com/success/valence.html
The End Client receives raw data from hundreds of different data sources, so you may need to be part of the integration process of all this data into the End Client's data warehouse.
The End Client collects information (data) from various Practice Management Systems from different (customer) Physician offices (these are the main data sources), and integrates this data with the hospital's labs & pharmacy, and then they build a mini-datamart tool, in which SAS EBI is used for a portal for their Physicians (customers). Physicians can log into the portal and identify a patient to obtain information about that patient – to develop clinical protocols, and to determine if the patient needs to have a vaccine done, as an example. The Physicians use this tool to manage the patient population.
For the Physician offices, the End Client has a tool they install on the Practice Management Systems that pulls the data to the End Client, which is then pushed into a SQL Server DB table. For this data source, the End Client has SAS jobs that hit the table and do all the cleansing, for example.
The data files for the hospital labs arrives to the End Client via an FTP secure site, and the End Client has routines that scan the directories for any new files, and then jobs are run automatically.
The End Client also has another (EBI) tool set up where small physician practices can upload their data, and then the End Client automatically has some SAS validation program process, which informs the customer if the file was accepted or rejected.
The Consultant's duties will include:
Ø Develop web reports utilizing Base SAS programming (including DATA step, Macros and SQL) and the entire SAS EBI suite (WRS, IDP, OLAP, AMO, IMAP, Dashboard) to support patient management, risk management, and strategic decision-making.
Ø Create and manage SAS stored process programs using ODS to deliver online reporting content to analysts, healthcare professionals, and executives.
Ø Assist in the development and maintenance of SAS Information Maps and Web Report Studio reporting for health plan clients.
Ø Transition existing manual reporting processes to automated processes accessed through the SAS web portal.
Ø Design, implement, test, and maintain client reporting pages for new and existing clients delivered through the SAS Information Delivery Portal.
Ø Track requests for new reports and functionality.
Ø Assist internal staff and external users with training and troubleshooting.
Ø Contribute to the standardization and documentation of reporting processes and standards.
Ø Develop and maintain data preparation and validation routines to support the reporting of clinical metrics and cost information.
Ø Process and analyze data to support clinical and financial initiatives for managed care organizations.
Ø Perform ad-hoc analysis of data for the customers.
Candidates should also have the following skillsets or qualifications:
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects.
- Experience with SQL databases and the design of PROC SQL queries.
Attention to detail and the ability to present summarized data in a clear and appealing manner is a must.
Thanks & Regards
