General Overview
The Strategy and Design Team identifies and positions new server infrastructure technologies and services as a component of the overall
architectural strategy to meet business needs.
The infrastructure includes Hardware and Operating Systems, Storage, Messaging, Database, and surrounding management and monitoring of those technologies.
The team works closely with the Technology Services and Operations, Integrated Network and Communication, IS Support Services and the Partners CTO and Site CIOs as well as various working groups in the organization to continue the evolution of the server infrastructure.
The team is responsible for evaluating and recommending new and emerging server infrastructure technologies for use throughout Partners.

The team is responsible for evaluating and recommending new and emerging server infrastructure technologies for use throughout Partners.
The team researches technologies and evaluates vendor offerings for the future standardization.
The team plans, designs and recommends platform modifications or additions to increase system stability, capacity, scalability and ability to meet the future needs of the business.
Each Engineer confers with peers on infrastructure shortcomings. Consults with and advises application owners and other support groups of server infrastructure issues.
The team projects long-range requirements for server administration and expansion. Plans and recommends server infrastructure modifications or additional equipment to increase system capacities. Analyzes the results of server monitoring and recommends
changes to improve performance, processing and utilization.
Team members need to have knowledge and experience with the MS Windows and Unix Operating systems, Performance Analysis, MS Active Directory, Exchange, SQL and Oracle, SAN Storage and System management and monitoring. They should also have experience in supporting and
configuring Compaq/HP ProLiant Server hardware, HP SAN Disk and EMC SAN Disk.
Responsibilities
* Review existing technology infrastructure across all Partners entities.
* Evaluate and recommend new and emerging infrastructure technologies for use throughout Partners.
* Assist CIOs with technology planning to meet their business goals.
* Identify areas where efficiencies can be derived through consolidated use of existing systems.
* Collaborate with technical leaders within TSO to plan strategies for existing systems.
* Provide consulting services for IT Disaster Recovery planning for critical systems.
* Evaluate, demonstrate, and present new technologies to executives and technology leaders (develop position statements).
* Meet with vendors and technical team leaders to create technology roadmaps.
* Make recommendations as to strategic technology directions.
* Present to groups of varying audiences throughout Partners and outside interests.
* Foster innovation and new ideas to maintain world-class recognition.
* Evaluate and recommend industry best practices for use throughout Partners.
* Embrace ITIL philosophies and framework for efficient and financially responsible use of IT Services, including lifecycle and management.
* Participation in departmental and enterprise-wide projects with an emphasis on new technology integration within the Partners environment
* Conform to and support system¹s management disciplines such as the Corporate Change, Asset, and Problem Management procedures.
* Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility:
Work with the Corporate Manager and Director, Technical Services and Operations to do as much as we can while being fiducially responsible .
* No direct supervisory responsibilities, but technical leadership required and the ability to manage a matrix staff.

* Knowledge of Servers, storage and databases (SQL Oracle)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Be well organized
* Ability to rapidly master and apply new storage technology and methodologies

* Expert Knowledge of Server Operating Systems: Unix or Windows Server Operating Systems, Storage, Database and system management

Qualifications
* BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
* 5+ years I/T experience
* 3+ years server administration experience in a large networked environment
* 2+ years of administration experience in Microsoft Operating Systems (Server 2008)

* Must have Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL (2008/2012) and Oracle 10g
