Title: Hardware Design Engineer - Contractor
Duration: 6 months with probable extension
Location: San Jose / Milpitas Border
Project Details:
Participates on a project team of engineers involved in the specification, design, development and test of hardware, that may include any of the following list of responsibilities: Coordinates the process of formal certification through internal homologation test labs. Defines the design and implementation processes and procedures. Responsible for board and product level complex architecture design. Writes board and product level functional and design specs and hardware manuals. Writes complete unit and integration test plans for entire product. Debugs complex system level problems. Performs complex system level unit and integration test. Designs complex FPGA. Designs board level diagnostics firmware. Drives resolution of issues with CAD and Manufacturing Engineers in developing new boards. Designs system level simulation tests. Partners with in-house packaging and other compliance engineers during design process to ensure compliance requirements will be met. Resolves issues at customers sites. Interfaces with Customer Eng., Marketing, and Sales to understand customer problems and requirements and provide raw material for training and documentation. Provides product compliance updates to the Marketing and Eng. departments important to the certification process as requirements change.
Candidate qualification detail:
10+ years of high speed PCB design experience
Familiar with PCB design tools such as Mentor Graphics Viewlogic and/or Candence Concept
Familiar with Verilog and FPGA design flow (both Xilinx and Altera). Project is mostly a board design job, but experience with FPGA/Verilog is helpful.
Experience with high-speed I/O's (PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, OTN, etc.)
Some experience with Signal Integrity is desired, but not required.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Must be a good team player and capable of working with cross functional teams
Knowledge of networking protocol a plus
