Java Developer with Big Data and Cassandra experience
Long term contract
Location – Santa Clara, CA
Ideally, a candidate would have Cassandra, Storm, and Kafka experience, and be a solid java developer.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
5-10 years of backend software development experience using one or more of the following:
Cassandra/MongoDB
Storm/Spark
Kafka
PostGreSQL
MySQL
Strong coding & debugging: you have advanced knowledge of java and are happy to learn more
Quality first mentality. Accountability for the code that you write.
A team player mindset. The belief that you can do more on a team than on your own.
Desired Characteristics:
High degree of hands-on software development experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment
A willingness to teach and collaborate with others in a start-up environment
Experience working with modern development & integration tool suites
Hands-on experience in web services (REST, SOAP, OAuth etc.), service brokers, API gateways/proxies, API Development, SQL & NoSQL databases, virtual machines/IaaS, workflow tools, etc.
Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
Able to communicate & work in a flexible environment
Influences through others; builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas.
Evaluates technology to drive features and roadmaps
Able to verbalize what is behind decisions and downstream implications.
Knowledge or experience in designing or building IOT related solutions
Client Notes
Client is looking for Cassandra experience above any other DB experience, mongo experience only after Cassandra is not found
Client is looking for Storm experience above any other processing engine experience, and Spark would be the second best option.
Client is also looking for Kafka experience which is related to message handling.
Ideally, a candidate would have Cassandra, Storm, and Kafka experience, and be a solid java developer.
